Everyone who visits Sandpoint MUST get ice cream at Dub's! Reminds me of getting ice cream in Kamas after being at the cabin as a kid -- they make a different flavor every day!

A fast, blurry pic in the rain on the last day of school! :)
When asked how she felt about school being out for the summer, this is the look Hazel gave me. :)

The water in Lake Pend Oreille in early June is still frigid, but these Chicks didn't care . . . for about 10 minutes. :) Long enough to get wet and then take every kid - one at a time - to the bathroom. (should have just told them to go make a warm spot in the water . . . :)
FARRAGUT STATE PARK
During WWII, right after Pearl Harbor, the US Navy set up a naval training base on the south end of Lake Pend Oreille. The lake is deep enough (one of the deepest in the country) that they could put ships in the lake. Nels's maternal grandfather trained here in 1944 before being shipped out to the Pacific where he served on one of the battleships.
In addition to the war museum, Farragut has an excellent swimming hole where we spent a beautiful, warm afternoon.
SAM OWEN'S IN HOPE
We spent one of our last evenings with Kendall, Trya, and Shelby at the Sam Owen's campground in Hope. Vi slept most of the time on the warm rocks, while the other girls made "forts" out of driftwood.
Thank you, Kendall, for taking the time to come see us! We loved having you here!!!
